No need to explain yourself, my friend. Trees are a renewable resource. Nothing in your commendable stack resembled old growth (but, also, not driftwood). You cut one tree down, three grow back.
Nothing beats a wood fire, and where you live the smoke is more than negligible. I'm sure more energy is consumed and its carbons exhausted into the sky on an annual round trip to LM than a summer full of you staying cozy next to your fireplace/stove/whatever.
Now, though, tell the truth. What is the name of the young man that bucked up all those rounds and split the same?
