Not yet but I assume they will, the cone of uncertainy is fairly tight on this one. When they curve into the coast like that even La Manzanilla with its low hurricane record becomes vulnerable. Hurricane hurricane go away, don't come back some other day.

I searched for live webcams today and began watching one termed "La Manzanilla Beach Cam" at 11 am. The winds L(.)(.)KED 'bout 30 mph or so most of the afternoon and didn't even knock a branch off in the view 'till around 4 pm then in the next 15 minutes quadrupled in speed knocking out limbs and a small building on the left of the view. A few minutes later it knocked out the webcam, which seemed to be enclosed in glass. Could not find anymore working webcams on that part of the Mexican coast after that. Really interesting to see how the wind and rain were steady all day then when it made landfall 'round 4 pm, the wind picked up quick and everything exploded in only 15 or 20 minutes. | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia

I guess Daniel will be stacking his chairs out of the way and covering the beach cam with a plastic bag ..... hopefully a see through plastic bag . Things look to be getting interesting . Moisture from Manzanillo is flowing up to central Texas and we are expecting upwards of 10 inches of rain in places . Should help put the fires out. Hopefully you all will get more moderate amounts . Fingers crossed for all . Good Luck . | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia

The current track of the eye is to the north of La Manz--this is not good! Circulation around a hurricane in the northern hemisphere is counterclockwise so that winds for locations to the south of the eye will be onshore, worst possible situation! I was in Biloxi for hurricane Opel in 1995, even though the eye was close, we were on the "good" side and suffered little damage, whereas Pensacola to the east got clobbered! Good luck to all who choose to stay! Wonder what will happen to the crocs with a large storm surge? | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia

From Accuweather Currently a Category 5 hurricane, Patricia is expected to reach the Mexico coast as a Category 4 or Category 3 hurricane. "Currently, Patricia is expected to make landfall sometime Friday evening along the southern coast of Mexico, just northwest of the city of Manzanillo," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Steve Travis. "Areas along the coast can anticipate damaging winds and power outages," said Travis. This is in addition to the surge of tropical moisture that will likely bring an elevated risk for flash flooding and mudslides. With a forecast path just to the west of Manzanillo, storm surge will also be a concern for the city and other points off to the east and south. High winds from the southwest could funnel a great deal of water into the bay areas as the center moves inland. "Manzanillo sits right in the center of a bay," AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Miller explains. "Even though much of the city is not situated right on the beach, a significant storm surge of 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet) is likely." The storm surge can be locally higher. Property owners and those vacationing at the resorts right along the bays should be prepared for inundation. More than 300 mm (about 12 inches) of rain is possible, especially right near where the hurricane makes landfall. The Mexican states of Jalisco and Colima will likely have the heaviest rain, as well as the strongest wind speeds. | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia

HURRICANE PATRICIA SPECIAL DISCUSSION NUMBER 13 NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL EP202015 1230 AM CDT FRI OCT 23 2015 The purpose of this special advisory is to update for a significant increase in the intensity of the hurricane. Reports from the Air Force Hurricane Hunters indicate that Patricia has intensified at an incredible rate since yesterday. The plane measured peak 700-mb flight level winds of 179 kt in the northeastern eyewall, and this may be an unprecedented value for a tropical cyclone. Using the 90 percent adjustment value to convert this to a surface wind speed yields an intensity estimate of 160 kt, which is tied with eastern north Pacific Hurricane Linda of 1997 for the strongest on record. A dropsonde released into the eye measured a sea-level pressure of 894 mb with 25 kt of wind. Adjusting this pressure for the surface winds (i.e. the drop did not land into the actual center of the eye)gives an estimated minimum central pressure of 892 mb, which breaks the record for the lowest pressure of an east Pacific hurricane. Some fluctuations in intensity are likely today due to eyewall replacements, but Patricia should maintain category 5 status through landfall this afternoon or evening. | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia

The latest update on wunderground shows Patricia's sustained winds now at 185 mph, with gusts of 225 mph! And it's now projected to hit the coast below PV as a category 5 hurricane! Those winds will blow a bunch of water into Tenicatita Bay, so please, PLEASE y'all be aware of the possibility (probability?) of a huge storm surge swamping your beach and beyond. Stay alert and be safe. | ------------------------Re: Hurricane Patricia
