Where to stay?

My husband and I are staying at Castillio Chulada right on the beach! The owner Steve wants us to move away from the beach and possibly go Manzanillo. I am guessing that being on the roads is not a good idea but moving away from the beach is. Does anyone know of a room or house to rent until it is safe to leave? Any opinions about staying where we are?

If it's not too late, just get out of town now! The Weather Channel says It is "it the strongest hurricane ever recorded." Get somewhere on high ground asap...

We left La Manzanilla and are in manzanillo hoping to escape the worst of the hurricane. Good luck La Manzanilla! | ------------------------Re: Where to stay?

Bottom rooms on high ground with eastern facing or no windows. Western facing windows will have the glass blown out and no protection from the rain and wind. There is the forecast potential of 30 foot high storm surge. That would put the entire lower town under dangerous surging flows. Do not go out in these forecast winds as you could be blown across the ground and flying debris kills people. Our thoughts go out and we will be there in December to help if still needed. | ------------------------Re: Where to stay?

If time, can you go uphill and either ask to go into a house...or find your way in if it's empty. The beach area sounds very unsafe. | ------------------------Re: Where to stay?

If this storm is like others, the wind will come form the S/S/E due to the rotation pattern of the storm. This is one reason that LM is tucked up in the lee of the hills to the East and South. PS, it will be cool if the Beach Cam keeps working. | ------------------------
