our house

So happy to hear that the people of La Manzanilla have made it through this horrific, powerful hurricane. We are so grateful that you are all safe! We are now worrying about our home on the beach. We have been watching all the videos and photos but have seen none that even go close to our home. If anyone has time to walk down to our place and send some photos and info, if possible, you could email them to us or post on this message board. Our place is on the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and the beach(across the street from Restaurant Aceves). We would be so appreciative. Thanks in advance. Hoping for the best news for you. We have the same concerns. So relieved that everyone is O K , but would like to know how our house is. Buena Sueta | ------------------------Re: our house

We and a number of others are wondering the same thing about our places too. IŽm afraid that weŽll have to wait until at least the electricity comes back on (or the cell tower, if that comes back first). We could drive down from Guadalajara, but we know nothing about road conditions except that a lot of signs are down and that there is a lot of debris. It is frustrating not to know. | ------------------------Re: our house

Ditto this for our house on the beach. While we are so grateful there has been no loss of life or major injuries, and that our town is still standing, we have no clue what has happened to our home. I have seen no photos of the beach houses from Lora Loka's to the jardin. Ours is just to the south of Guacamole Restaurant. If anyone knows anything of these houses, we would so appreciate hearing from you. Thanks so much! Pat and Lew | ------------------------Re: our house

now I know why no one emailed me about our Casa. Bottom floor is totally ruined. All security doors and glass doors are gone. Everything is toast. So upsetting. | ------------------------Re: our house

Pam and I are so sorry for your loss Judy, and as well for all those in La Manzanilla who have suffered losses. Knowing La Manzanilla, we know that our community will rally in support of those who are now in need. We only wish that we could be there now to help in whatever way we could. | ------------------------Re: our house

Am very grateful that no person was harmed, and hope that includes all animals. Judy, I am sorry for what sounds like a lot of damage to your home. Looks like there will be a lot of clean up needed. I am right next door to Judy B at Casa Shanti, I have seen the street pic's with my garage door off but not the beach side. It sounds like Judy lost her windows on the main floor and wondering if someone can please let me know if there is damage to my casa please. I am also waiting to see if I need to come back next week. Any information is appreciated Mary S | ------------------------Re: our house

This is where a property manager comes in real handy. If you have one they should be contacting you soon now that there is power and phone places. Judy, I saw Roddy this evening going to pick up Chella from working on your home, they are making good progress and the kids are staying there at night to guard your home. There have been lots of people taking photos so I would imagine they are either online some place or will be soon. I haven't walked anywhere but maybe today I will venture out some. I heard that the church windows are gone. I know Pepe Martinez lost his roof as did most who had the asbestos panels like I do (did). There are many who lost a place to live, at least temporarily, but no one trapped or even hurt from what I have heard. I will start a thread called Feeds, if you find a link with photos post it here so people can go through them. | ------------------------Re: our house

Thank you Daniel for that information. You are the best. Keeping this board going was just amazing. We are all so appreciative. My poor Chela. Took them days to clean up our Hacienda after Jova. I hope the water is on in our Casa to make cleaning earier for them. Best and see you Friday. | ------------------------Re: our house

Judy, just saw a photo of your house on Facebook. Your iron security gates are there...just laying in the beach. | ------------------------Re: our house

Our caretaker/manager has sent us photos of the damage to our home on the beach. Looks like our front door went down and some water went inside. Things are disheveled, sandy, and probably damp downstairs. No glass broke. The palapa will need repair but is mostly intact. Of course there is debris everywhere outside. All in all we are relieved. Thanks to our caretaker who took 'precauciones' by taping windows, sandbagging, and lifting stuff off the floor we didn't do so badly considering. There is a hell of mess to clean up still! Thanks to all who sent videos and photos. All the damage we see makes us sad. What a lot of work for everybody. Some of it reminds me of the earthquake and sunami of '95. And we did recover from that. Also thank you everyone for keeping yourselves safe during this horrendous storm. Property damage is a pain in the butt(and wallet) but it could have been much worse.
