At the risk of throwing myself to the sharks once again…and believe me I have learned to pick my issues carefully and then ponder my motives. But when I still have an overwhelming urge to address what could become highly controversal I write on the MB because I simply can't curb my enthusiasm based on the possibly of provoking any of the well meaning folks in LA so here goes..
Maybe this is the year for changing it up to include a broader segment of our community population in the annual benefit. If you are in town you would have to be wearing blinders not to see the extent of the devastation and the struggle to recover is not finished. When so few have so much and so many have so little isn't it time to give back to all our locals in a gesture of compassion and understanding that extends beyond yoga classes. If you haven't arrived yet surely you have been following the plight of old folks and families who's houses are not livable.
However…if you feel your cause to be just…at the Xmas party if you can look the server Luz in the eye and tell her why you think it is more important to "fix up" the gym than it is for her to have a roof over herself, her husband and their 2 children….or perhaps you can assuage your guilty conscience by slipping her a few extra pesos….
It rained last night….think about it….
