Thanks for posting this, Karen. I have had dozens of people asking when the Cisco's Amigo clinic is and I have to tell them there won't be one this year. I have been talking with Pro Animal Melaque about their model of bringing State of Jalisco vets from Autlan. It would involve bringing 2 vets for 2 days and it works out to 120 pesos per dog. If they spayed and neutered 100 dogs and cats, the cost would be 12,000 pesos. They bring all the equipment for surgery, but we would need to pay their daily wage of 1200 pesos each and provide them with food and lodging. So in other words we would need to come up with 17,000 pesos. I am working with Pino on a fundraiser in January. It is a lot to take on, but there is a huge need and if we don't do it this year, all the good work that Cisco's did will be undone. There are already packs of dogs down the beach. To say nothing about the veneral disease will be rampant! I believe that every dog should have an owner and be fed and cared for. The only other option if for folks to take their dogs to Melaque at a cost of 800pesos and I can assure you this is not feasible with so many struggling after the hurricane! Is anyone interested in helping fundraise?
