Many will remember 'Ike' Levy, who came down to La Manzanilla to volunteer in the reconstruction after Hurricane Patricia. It turns out Ike is an experienced pilot, who actually flew his own small home-built RV6 airplane from all the way from Taos to ZLO.
Ike invited me to fly with him in his amazing little plane a couple of days ago, and it was stunning.
Our route took us over the coast from Manzanillo to La Manzanilla, before we turned and flew over the mountains to Colima and the volcano. We made perfect landing at Colima Airport before flying back to Manzanillo airport.
It was an amazing trip with a fantastic pilot, and I took some photos to prove it.

We were allowed to fly no closer than 10 miles from the volcano:
This is the approach to a textbook landing at Colima Airport.

We went up into the ZLO control tower - this shot is Ike with Air Traffic Controller Arnoldo
Thanks again to Ike for an extraordinary experience!
