a bit of rain

It rained a bit ago, not much but big drops. I hope most people had tarps, perhaps that would be a good thing to bring down? Neil loaned me one, its covering my bed. Thanks Neil! They are cutting up the Loka Lara and Raul signs that blew down

I feel so sorry for people who don't have roofs yet, the rain we are having is going to take more personal possessions like books, photos etc. I put what was left in plastic bags and covered a few things with tarps so lucky me, I had those things. Plastic bags and tarps would have been a good thing to hand out earlier today to people. Hurricane then clear weather one situation. Hurricane then rain another. Live and learn. Also was thinking that the needs of people in disasters depends on what kind of disaster it is. With Earthquakes and Tornadoes if the persons home falls down or is completely gone they are suddenly without anything except the clothes on their back. In that case anything donated will be needed. | ------------------------Re: quite a bit of rain

Just last week we were so wishing for the cleansing rain to relieve the sweltering heat and humidity. Tonight the hard rain feels cruel. So many in this little village are without a proper home to shelter themselves and their few belongings. So sad! But come morning I know there will be people out trying to help each other. Please donate to the efforts of VivaLaManzanilla!, (PayPal button on its way!) and to Operation Blessing www.ob.org , who have been here since the storm putting roofs on for those most in need. Thank you! | ------------------------A lot of rain

I got to the office this morning and found about 1/2 inch of water on the floor, the rest had found its way through the cracks and slowly sunk into the sand out back. There was a coffee cup sitting on top of the fridge that was full to the brim with rain water which gives some idea of how much rain we got last night, a lot! Thanks to something called shifting baselines I wasn't disturbed at all, it is nothing compared to the morning after the hurricane. Actually it did a nice job of washing everything off, have you ever wanted to take a garden hose to the inside of your house and give it a really good cleaning? That's what I got and it did a good job. Despite my having swept the office at least 5 times this past week there was still sand on and in everything. Have you ever heard of the statistic that says " there are more suns in the universe than all of the grains of sand on all the beaches and deserts of the world" well I swept up a couple galaxies this past week. I don't mean to make light of something that was tragic on tragic for a lot of people, but that is what the locals do so maybe its rubbing off.
