Pesos

Just a reminder to those of you coming...... try to bring small denomination peso bills with you. The stores really like it when you hand them a 20 or 50 or 100 instead of a 500. One can get them from time to time at the bank here, but not always. If you order them from you bank del Norte, you can specify the denomination you want. | ------------------------Re: Pesos

Unfortunately, up here in Canada, we cannot specify denominations when we order pesos from the TD bank. Large bills are primarily what the banks receive, and therefore hand out. Last year I received mostly 1000 and 500 peso bills, but was lucky to be able to trade for some smaller denominations after a lot of 'pleading'! As a work around, perhaps make several smaller orders of pesos that do not end in 100, 500 or 1000 pesos multiples. Have each order end in 90 pesos to get a variety of denominations. It may drive the bank teller nuts, but you will get a large package to carry with the variety of bills you desire! Perhaps that will help! Otherwise, make some exchanges of large for small denominations at the bank in Melaque, after arrival. | ------------------------Re: Pesos

If you are a member of AAA, you can order thru them for no added fee. I ordered certain denominations and that is how the pesos came. I live in the US. | ------------------------Re: Pesos

RBC IN Canada will allow their customers to order pesos in small denominations. | ------------------------Re: Pesos

Most airports are connected to a service called Click and collect. You pay when you get to the airport. I have been able to ask for small denominations. I call the 800 number and talk directly to them. | ------------------------Re: Pesos

Guess it depends upon the branch, I have ordered specific denomination smaller bills from the local TD and credit union here in Victoria BC with no problems. At ATMs in Mexico I always request non-1000 amounts like 2900, 3900 P to ensure I get some 100s and 200s at least. Once, I got all 50s, 100s-lots of paper!
