U.S. bank cards in Melaque?

I have friends with a Wells Fargo ATM card with a chip. Can the ATM's in Melaque now process these cards? She's wondering if she needs to exchange dollars for pesos at the airport instead of the ATM. The bank card didn't work a season or two ago. Any current local knowledge would be appreciated! Sylvia | ------------------------Re: U.S. bank cards in Melaque?

I have had great success changing cash for pesos at the Banamex in Melaque. All you need is your passport and an address here. You take a number on the left of the machine and when it's your turn. Voila! Faster than standing in the line-up for the ATM. No service fees and a really good rate. | ------------------------Re: U.S. bank cards in Melaque?

The Banamex Bank does accept the new chip cards. Tell your friend do not, under any circumstances, buy pesos at the airport...it's a bad deal. | ------------------------VISA

US Bank, owns Visa albeit credit or debit cards through their network called "Card member Service".....P.O.Box 7909408 St Louis, MO 63179-0408....... The US Treasury Department operates through this agency....and 85 plus other countries.... Go to Visa if you have an account there through your local bank and ask for what ever amount you wish to withdraw daily whether it be from lets say in American currency $300 USD to $1000 USD...Via the ATM per/day.....They can authorize your wishes.... for the best rates will results from the exchanges in DLS to Peso's...... | ------------------------Re: VISA

I've had a WF ATM/debit card for over ten years, got a new one this spring that has a chip (bright red color), and have never had a problem at the ATMs. Sometimes it won't work right away, but withdrawing the card and trying again or at a different machine seems to solve the problem. Good luck. | ------------------------Re: VISA

Always a good idea to notify your bank of travel plans and until we asked for a higher daily withdrawal amount we were stuck with the minimum....live and learn. | ------------------------Re: U.S. bank cards in Melaque?

Be careful if using a debit card linked to an checking account to maintain a low balance. Card info is stolen and cloned often in Mx, we have learned the hard way to limit the potential losses. Monitor your accounts regularly online for activity. Buen suerte, Rojo | ------------------------Re: U.S. bank cards in Melaque?

VIA RADIO WAVE is an Advanced New Tecknowlegey for Credit/ATM cards now in operation....It is a way to make all cards useless if stolen or found by a second or third party. Ask your bank if this available. You can throw it on the street and it can not be used but rendered useless. Via previous established wave length only the person it was issued to can access. It is a safe and secure operation.... | ------------------------
