Las Joyas/ the pools

Has anyone walked up to the pool yet this season? Is it doable? I'd like to hike up this week. Thanks. | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

Tony, our gardener, just went up there at night to hunt Chacales. He's says it's all walkable. We'll go with ya! | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

Brenda, I spoke with a young person today that just returned and said the trail was pretty rough with debris from hurricane... but was doable. Going on Sunday to check it out myself. | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

What are the pools? Is it the same area as the waterfall I've heard about?how far from town? | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

Yes- the waterfall. Pools with fish an craw dads - clear and cool for a refreshing dip. About 45 min walk last year on clear trails. | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

In my Spanish dictionary a chacal is a jackal. Very handy to have a Spanish dictionary here. You actually start to learn Spanish. Un buen idea. | ------------------------Re: Las Joyas/ the pools

Around here, chacales are fresh-water lobsters, a kind of crayfish, very popular with the locals, and only available in the rainy season, so don't tell anyone. You don't see them on restaurant menus here, but we noticed them advertised up in La Huerta. A Spanish dictionary may be less helpful in rural areas of Mexico, I'm afraid... | ------------------------
