Humans of La Manzanilla: Maestros Miguel & 'Chuy''

You may have already had the pleasure of meeting Maestro Miguel at one of the Spanish conversation classes he gives at La Catalina language school. Miguel has lived in La Manzanilla for 62 years, and met his wife 'Chuy' here. They were both teachers in the primary school here for many years, and upon retiring, opened a Vivero (plant nursery). Now, they've retired the Vivero as well, and Miguel is only teaching part-time at La Catalina. Miguel has a ready wit and an excellent sense of humour- always fun to be around. His classes are so enjoyable you forget you're learning something!

I love this couple. They have helped me plant gardens in two locations, carry very heavy stone furniture and always smile. Very special people. | ------------------------Re: Humans of La Manzanilla: Maestros Miguel & 'Chuy''

Wow, David, this is such a great photo once again. I guess just a funny coincidence, but those red and green xmas colours jump out, verdad? So a very fitting HOLM instalment. Gracias and Feliz Navidad... | ------------------------Re: Humans of La Manzanilla: Maestros Miguel & 'Chuy''

IMO your Humans of La Manzanilla is the most informative and unitizing collection of post ever presented on a message board, not to mention the consistiently professional photography and I thank you for it! However, I would have cropped the photo

Miguel was my Maestro at the Catalina school two weeks ago and he was just a dream in every way. I am so glad to see this photo. Thanks, David! | ------------------------Re: Humans of La Manzanilla: Maestros Miguel & 'Chuy''

Miguel taught me how to read and write in Spanish during my first two years in primary school 20 years ago. I was only 5, and I will never forget that! We are so happy to still have him as one of our teachers at La Catalina Language School in La Manzanilla. | ------------------------Re: Humans of La Manzanilla: Maestros Miguel & 'Chuy''

I must admit, my first instinct was to crop the photo as you have done. But I realized that the full frame carried all the unconsciously beautiful clutter and colour that says Mexico to me. Thank you for your comments about HOLM. The goal is to celebrate this lovely community, this one-of-a-kind place, this gem on the coast of the world. | ------------------------ |
