I have the fish. What I need is a weber or weber style bbq that has a lid and is not gas operated. In the past my little table top weber has worked wonders for smoking fish, however said weber is 1500 miles north. Maybe you have something not being used. Smoked fish anyone?

Hey Monte,
We have a medium sized Weber charcoal grill. You are welcome to use it.
Saludos,

I have a Brinkmann water smoker that hasn't been used for a couple of years. I just got a SmokinIt electric smoker so I won't be using the water smoker anytime soon. If you want to rinse it off and use it, it has smoked some unbelievable salmon, not to mention two 14 lb turkeys at once, over the years.

I brought a Weber gas down but can't find a tank to fit the nozzle end. Doesn't have the standard fitting. Any ideas or extra tanks floating around?

If you change the propane fitting on your BBQ, you can attach it to a standard propane bottle or line with a flexible gas hose.

If your Weber is like mine, you cannot change the hookup without disabling the gas-flow control, or at best limiting its range in an exasperating way. Make sure that someone confirms that you will still have complete control if you, for example, hook your Weber up to your main LP tank.
As to getting a regular tank with a Weber-friendly connector you can probably buy one at Tio Sam's in Puerto Vallarta. Call first. If they don't have one, they can order one for you. Be prepared to spend around $1000 pesos for it. At least they normally sell them filled. I have two Weber tanks, and I thought about the possibility of giving one up. But I have been saved too many times by being able to swap out the empty tank to be able to consider life with only one. Good luck.

I did what Rob L. suggested and have mine connected by flex hose to the main tank via a line T'd off from my clothes dryer line. Works like a charm. Never have to change bottles.

But is it a Weber? That was the issue at hand.

Yup, it's a Weber Q series.

The vapour pressure of propane is the same in a 1 lb, 20 lb or 250 lb or larger tank, and only changes (increases) as temperature changes (increases).
Have someone bring down an adaptor hose (doesn't have to be Weber brand) to connect to a larger bottle. The adaptor costs about $35 in Canada, likely cheaper in the US. I have not found one down here.
If your regulator fails in the future and only gives a low flame, go to Home Depot in Manzanillo and pick up a replacement regulator and hose (in a sealed plastic bag) in the plumbing section (not the BBQ section) and a roll of yellow gas tape. You will need a few more fittings from local stores, then you can hook your Weber BBQ up to your main line or a 20 lb bottle. I tried other regulators from stores between here and HD and none worked properly for the two I changed over. Now they work as good as new, several years later. No problems with the flame control unit.
