Does anyone know if they will open the mangrove in order to lower it? | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

It looks like it's open , Josee, I see the big "cafe latte" smudge along the shoreline. | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

Brad, visualize flushing a very large toilet. Now you got the picture. Takes a week to 10 days often to clear up after the flow stops. Depending on how full the lagoon is will determine how long it flows. Rojo | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

thanks Red - I get the picture - some have said it is better to head down the beach to swim after such a happening - guess it would depend on tides , current, wave action etc - your thoughts ? or better to just stay out for the week ? | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

On around the bay is fine, often not too far at all, certainly by Boca you are fine. Water color and smell are easy to follow. Use the opportunity to explore, buses or cabs are easy to grab. Have the Deli do a picnic lunch and head for Tenacatita, great beach and snorkeling. Rojo | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

As a first-timer here, curious if this flushing is an annual "event" TIA | ------------------------Re: The mangrove...

Yes, the lagoon opens normally each summer during the rainy season. This summer was fairly dry but Patricia filled the rivers which filled the lagoon. Now the water needs some place to go, i.e. the ocean. I still swim daily in front of Pedro's but am careful of not taking water in my mouth when the laguna is open. But Rojo is right, you can go to Tenacatita, La Vena, Cuastecomate to avoid the issue. And you don't need to take a cab as Rojo has an almost brand new VW and I'm sure he would be glad to provide transportation. He's such a nice guy. Just email me for his phone #.
