Once upon a time. . . .in 2006, the Federal Government gave LaManzanilla a gift of a State-of-the-Art, brand new, shiny red Cadillac. It had power windows and brakes, leather upholstery, super duper high fi stereo radio, spoke wheels, sun roof - you get the picture. HOWEVER, somehow or other the keys were lost, the owner´s manual disappeared, possibly no mechanic was trained to fix and maintain the car and maybe NO ONE was hired to drive it! LaManzanilla did the best they could with what they had. Maybe we were forgotten, who knows? Anyway, 2016, and what do you think that car looks like? Well, don´t give up hope!!!!! Your town, municipal, state and Federal governments are all working together to bring that old car back to life! We, the people of LaManzanilla may be called upon to help out too. but, why not? We all seem to appreciate a well-run car. If you haven´t figured it out by now, this is an allegory describing the life of the sewer system here in LaManzanilla. Not only do we have a very workable sewer system here, we: The Fed, State, Municipal and town governments, are working on solving the problems inherent in this “10 year old car” It is my dream that, with the help of all these people and the Engineers Without Borders”, our system will be a shining example (jewel), where other communities in Mexico will come to learn how to treat waste water well. And to put icing on the cake, LaManzanilla will be awarded the Blue Flag Beach. You can look that up in Google if you are interested. More facts will be reported in following sewer reports. Thank you for listening to my story!

Mary Jo: I think you are wonderful for all you've done and spurred on. Thank you so much. I have only been down to the beach the day after the mangrove was allowed to be free, and there was quite a difference in the stench factor compare to last year. Oh, to be sure, it wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't as unpleasant as it has been. I think that may be because there's no (hopefully) sewage running into the mangrove, thanks to your efforts.
Keep that fairy tale alive!!!
My fairy tale is they build a bridge and let our mangrove run free and be as sweet as the one at La Vena, where I had a lovely swim and drift yesterday.

Yes! If the homeowners on the beach decided they wanted a bridge and wouldn't that be great! No more strangling the natural flow with a dirt roadway! They COULD write up a petition: WE WOULD LIKE A BRIDGE OVER THE LAGOON, NEXT TO THE FOOT BRIDGE, SO WE CAN DRIVE TO OUR HOMES AND LESSEN THE IMPACT ON THE CROCODILES. It truly is amazing when a few people speak up for what they want. We may have to put in $ for the labor, but who said having a convenient way to drive home should be free???? YES! I believe our village here is wonderful and our challenges can be solved!

What does everyone think about making a bridge over the crocodile lagoon?
