And why do they congregate together the way they do? Found this interesting little YouTube video on some of their natural history. Looks like the species is actually Thasus acutangulus. And a little correction on my one previous distinction between "true bugs" (at one time, the Orders Hemiptera & Homoptera) and beetles. I should have said that the nymphs of true "bugs", indeed nymphs of any Order, don't fly - adult "bugs" do have wings, of course, as those gardeners that have to deal with aphids, leafhoppers, etc. can attest...
