In the nearby town of El Ranchito lives a family that makes the big umbrellas that you see at all the beach restaurants here.
Unfortunately, Jaime (pronounced 'HI-may) was severely injured in a car crash recently, and is now unable to work for up to one year. The rest of the family is helping fill the gap, but they do need more work to keep up with medical expenses.
Beach umbrellas are available with either 6 or 8 panels, and cost 1,300 pesos complete. New fabric covers are 450 pesos. They can also repair the wood frames of umbrellas. They make replacement fabric seats for wooden folding beach chairs, 70 pesos each.
Here is a photo I took today of Jaime's wife Rosi, and her extremely cute daughters. Contact me if you'd like to order something, they don't speak English. If you speak Spanish, I can send along Rosi's Cel number.
They are a lovely family and they do very good work, and quickly!

They made a new cover for my Home Depot umbrella. It's beautiful. Well made. You can select the colors just right for your patio or little bit of beach. The turn around time was very quick too.

Hi david, we want to purchase an 8 panel, umbrella cover, similar to a home depot type. Colour..dark blue. Only problem is we leave for home at the end of February. Can it be arranged? Alternate colour, dark green, which ever they can obtain . Thanks for posting this, cheers Glenn

I would like to say a big thank you to this community for helping this family! There were a number of orders for umbrellas and fabric, and thanks to Magz for donating towards medical expenses.
Rosi is very thankful too, and her little son Jaime Jr. told me to say 'thank you to everyone for giving my mother some work so we can get money' (a very polite little boy!)
