In the meantime, try deleting your Shaw account in Mail Preferences, and re-entering it. You'll need your password. Also, not any numbered settings before you delete this, like Port numbers.
However, I suspect you have a glitch with the actual email program itself. You might want to use webmail.shaw.ca for awhile until you can fix things.
