Three have been funded and seven to go!
In addition to our new student candidates waiting to enter to the program, forty-seven La Manzanilla youth are receiving a Wings scholarship.
The scholarship program started in 2007 with our one sole student attending high school. With the scholarship support, the student, Gaby, made her family and community proud as she was the first in her large family to finish high school.
By 2010, the first university scholarship was awarded. By June of 2017, 12 ambition and dedicated La Manzanilla students were attending university on scholarship. Each year the numbers grow!
Of our current university students, Jhennifer will be an architect, Eric a doctor, Jocelyn a psychologist, Leslie a bilingual tourist administrator, Yadira an environmental engineer, and the list goes on...
And Wings scholarship alumni are already giving back to the community...
Congratulations to Brianda Mendoza (University student sponsored by Ann & Tim Edwards). She graduated at top of her class is now LCF's accountant!
Your faith in these aspiring youth has allowed them to soar. Please tell your friends about this program...it is a gift to the giver as well as the receiver! LCF is now also a registered 501(c)(3) in the U.S. Donations made by U.S. citizens are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt.
