I will be visiting La Manzanilla Dec 1-9, 2017.
I am highly allergic to stinging insects, fire ants, etc.
I am on Venom Anti-Immunization Therapy, which mean the allergist injects minute amounts of blended venoms ( to the degree I am allergic to each) every 4-6 weeks. This modifies immune response so that if/when I am stung I have a close to normal reaction. Will it offer ANY protection when it comes to scorpions?
Have been researching scorpions. Protocols. Clinics.
My allergist in NY had NO info on what to do at all.
The info on-line is contradictory, often outdated, USA centric.
I have printed a list of 'Medical Services' from your
web sites.
However- I'd REALLY appreciate if if anyone could tell me
what/where my best bets are if the worst should happen and I'm stung. If anaphylaxis occurs- There might only be a 30 minute window.
I carry Epi-pens and anti-histamines but from what I've read they will be ineffective.
I don't want to be fumbling around with a list or getting no answer from the numbers on it.
Trying to keep it simple:
Where is the closest MD/ clinic having the anti-venom serum Anascorp and the skills necessary:
Daytime- fastest, best?
Middle of the night- fastest, best?
Believe me, I'm not a total paranoid. I lived in the Bahamas
where we had occasional scorpions, but I KNEW my clinic
and the MD, their skills, their supplies.
Like a good scout- I only want to be prepared.
I thank you in advance for any words of advice -
and I'm really looking forward to being there.
