As to Four Seasons, opinions will vary as to the benefits derived from the hotel's construction and post construction operation. I have not heard that very many local people have been employed on construction crews, but when the hotel is up and running, there should be huge employment prospects for locals.
But what of the town itself? What happens to the peace and tranquility? That quaintness that people treasure? The uncrowded beach? Maybe only us foreigners worry about that, maybe the locals don't.
Water? Imagine how much water it will take to run that resort.
The town's water system is already failing and will continue to do so as the inadequate pvc water mains increasingly fail. This is one problem that gringo donation jars can't solve.252
