Re: Call to Artists of La Manzanilla

Posted by carol lopez on November 25, 2008, 9:45 am, in reply to "Call to Artists of La Manzanilla"

We had our first meeting, and there is a large group of artists wanting to participate...several more who didn't come to the meeting, too.

Please spread the word - especially to Mexican artists and artisans who might want to open their taller, and/or show and sell their work in one of the public spaces (restaurants, etc.) that will provide space for display.

Restaurants and other commercial and public spaces - if you are in charge of one, and want to participate, please call the Galeria la Manzanilla 351 7099 or post on this board - someone will get back to you to claim some of your space.

Silver has volunteered the Galeria as a sort of central place where buyers and artists can get more information re how to participate. Thank you!

The deadline for artists/artisans who want to be included in promotional material is Dec. 3 to contact Rennie (the treasurer) at 538 3423 to arrange to pay her $100 pesos (the first amount we are all contributing for expenses). This will ensure that you are listed as a participating artist, and are included on the map. (your name, and the place you are displaying your work)

Susan has plywood and cardboard, so we can make signs at her taller (behind her house) We will plan that at the Dec. 1 meeting. Thank you, Susan.

We have 2 volunteers, Frances and June, who are doing graphic work and promotion for us (Gracias)...and others have volunteered to help with logistics. Please come to the next meeting:

Dec. 1 at Lora Loka's at 4:30 PM.

Bring ideas, cash if you haven't paid your fee (artists only, no charge to the volunteers, of course!!), all of your contact information, and all the contact info you know for any resorts, developments, people who might want to hear about this event.

Have I forgotten anything, or does anyone have a different memory of the facts and intention of the last meeting? If so, please respond right away - that's the great thing about this message board...again, Daniel and all, thank you!
