To "me", the quote has little to do with Dog's, Lion's or a Man throwing a stick for a Dog to retrieve. It is an analogy, being used as a pointer, not intended to be taken and analyzed in a literal sense. It's OK if you do that though. And certainly we can learn from Dogs how to be more fully in the moment. As for the quote, I sense where it is pointing to, is that place where thoughts arise. What does one find when they go to that place, or space, and abide, rather than continually chasing after thoughts, as is the habit for many of us human "beings"? This is what I feel from reflecting on the quote. Maybe I ought to think about it some more?
