If you aren't finding some of the places mentioned by Larry try Cajon de Peña which is just north of Tomatlán and the village in front of Melaque is Pinal Villa with it's 'interesting' murals.

Also try out Negritos or Chamela for good swimming. Negritos has nice clear water (cold at the moment).

The ladies coop at Cuzalapa is definately worth a visit too.

Maybe if you are heading towards PV you should go and check out the botanical gardens. They are beautiful. Closed on Mondays.
