I have been taking Spanish in Barra from a woman named Robin. I began 4 or 5 months ago and can now carry on intelligible conversations. She lets me take as many classes as I want per month for 300 pesos per month. I began like an immersion experience, taking 3 hours of classes per day -- some were survival spanish -- basics, easy ways to avoid conjugations etc. Other classes were more advanced beginner, as well as intermediate classes with students who had lived in Mexico many years or taken university level classes. When I started, I could barely keep up with the beginning students; now, I test out at an intermediate level and have little trouble with complex conversations using all the tenses. Robin is on vacation until sometime in late June, but when she returns, if you leave your e-mail here, I can forward your contact information to her. The school is near the soccer field, as you enter Barra. I had wanted to take Spanish before, but this was the first time I could afford it. |
