When the road was being paved Lyle and I were both incredible sick. Weeks at a time with what appeared to be bronchitis, wheezing, coughing and lots of mucus. Lyle was on steroid inhalers and using a nebulizer a few times a week. We took him to allergist in Colima who treated him with twice weekly allergy shots. The treatment helped but it was our trip back to Denver in the summer that really cleared up his lungs. I have no medical proof but heuristically speaking I would have bet money on the fact that the dust being stirred up but the brink paving of the road was the culprit. Just for reference Lyle and I had both been diagnosed with asthma, me 15 years ago and he as a 5 year-old. So we were probably both more susceptible to dust in general. |
