some sad news

For those of you who were in LM in the early 2000's, I thought you would want to know of the passing of Malcolm West.. He died last night in his sleep in his cabin in Anderson Valley, California. Malcolm spent a winter at my home and was seen often plein air painting his wonderful watercolors at the beach.. boats were his delight.. he had a show at the Galeria La Manzanilla from that winters work and was nearly sold out. Malcolm was a kind, smart, loving and gentle man who was also a fabulous artist.. he spent the last few years struggling with throat cancer.. and was 68 years old.. I know those of you who spent time with him will join me in sending his spirit on its way.. thanks, Silver
