Invest 99E is now Tropical Storm Rachel. The center is about 300 miles SW of us, and is moving away from us to the NW. Because of the upper-level wind shear from the NE, Rachel's clouds and rains are being pushed even farther away from us. We won't get anything from Rachel, but Baja might early next week. We do still have plenty of unstable moisture around us, so the chance of afternoon or evening thunderstorms continues.
PS, we have already shattered the old record for rainiest September and we still have 5 days to go! Final report after the 30th...
