My camera is currently shooting huge photos, 4896 x 3672. Tiny Pic, the default photo uploader for the message board did a better job of resizing the photos than Paint Shop Pro or another resizer program I have. The best option turned out to be loading the photos to my server full size and then using HTML to resize them. The file size is still quite large and will take a long time to see the photos if you have a slow connection but the clarity is better even without sharpening or any other editing. Just sayin

If I keep them that big my ipad fills up pretty quickly. I could always purchase more space of course. Post lots of pics. Loving them.

Hi Judy, Just email the pics to yourself and keep them on the server of your email program, then delete them from your ipad. I assume you are already doing something like that. When I download the photo off the camera to my computer (lets use the top one for example) it is 5,220 kb, which is huge. I used my photo editor to straighten the photo a bit, that changed the photo to 2,036 kb, half the size of the original. I don't know why it did that but it helped on the file size with no apparent loss in clarity (although there must have been some). One question (which I don't have time to research at the moment) is...Does the camera always gather enough data to make the largest size photo and then use its own algorithm to resize it if you shoot a smaller size, or does the camera use some other method when not shooting full size? The more you know the more you know you don't know you know.

Yes, I do store them off the Ipad, have to. I believe that the camera uses the size that you select and there fore if one was to blow it up into a poster size pic you would be out of luck if you picked a smaller size. I must check my camera. I believe I picked something in the middle. Yahoo sizes the picture regardless of size to email. Some others like gmail I believe do not making the receiver frustrated and annoyed that the size was so big. We need to chat with Brett. I think he knows his camera stuff. Where are you Brett??

Hi Judy, I didn't know that Yahoo resizes photos automatically! So no way to save originals on their server, bummer. The way I did the photos on the algorithm post lets you use ctrl + to zoom in on any part you want and its still got good quality! Also if you right click "save photo as" you will have the full size original on your computer.

Hi guys, I made it back home (again) recently and have been getting used to the heat (again). I've been following this thread with interest. Great photos, Daniel! I don't really know anything about Ipad photography (I'm sure there is someone out there who can chime in: Michel??) But I can say that my free Yahoo! email account does not resize my big photo files. I just sent one to myself and it came back with the same pixel count (4000x6000=24MP,) and the same file size (6.9MB.) Of course, I wouldn't email too many of these un-resized photos out without a good reason. And Yahoo! has a 25MB limit on outgoing emails (body and attachment(s) combined, free email or paid email.) I use an old copy of Photoshop Elements for my photo organizing and editing, including resizing photo files to be emailed. I keep all my photos on my desktop PC (and various data back-up locations,) so I don't have any real space limitations. But I certainly have less mobility than those using Ipads and Iphones! By the way, Daniel, that's pretty cool how your embedded photos in this thread show as being only 800x600 if you right-click them and view Properties. But I can zoom in a lot using the browser's zoom factor like you mention, and when I right-click then Save As, I get the full-size version saved on my PC. I never knew that about Tiny Pic!

Hi Brett, That is not Tiny Pic, the two photos under the thread algorithm are on my server. Tiny Pic does have default as one of the choices, I don't know if I could get the code and then use HTML to size it, I will try below. Well it kinda worked, the default on Tiny Pic is 1,600px × 1,200px, which I did resize with HTML using this code (left bracket missing to break the code) img src="http://i59.tinypic.com/313okr4.jpg" alt="La Manzanilla Mexico"> It's not the same quality as the full size on on my server but pretty damn good. More fun and games. Let's try 900 x 700 And 1000 x 800 ....Wheeeeeee! Now I'm going back to my algorithm post to make them bigger, you know what they say about the bigger the better! (I forget, how does that go?)

Oh dear. I used Yahoo years ago and they gave you a choice as to what size you wanted or resized automatically but that was long ago. So hard to keep up. Sorry for misinformation.
