I can tolerate heat, even the steam variety, fairly well. However, walking back from the beach a few minutes ago, it was really hot (for me).
Is it just me or is it actually hot today?

Hey, I feel your pain, man! It's pretty hot today. Here at my place it hit 95.9°F / 35.5°C. That is the 3rd hottest day this summer (after 96.4°F on June 18 and 96.3°F on July 13.) So far the afternoon highs this July have been averaging 92-94°F, so today is noticeably higher.
Also the humidity increased today which makes it "feel" even hotter (kind of a double whammy.) Combining today's high temp with the corresponding relative humidity of 59% yields a Heat Index of 115°F / 46°C. That's about the 2nd highest HI this summer (I don't calculate it every day.)
So it's hot by several definitions. 
(We now resume suffering already in progress...)

Thanks for verifying my suspicions, Bret.
I think that people that live up on the hills (Barry & Jan, for instance?) and receive a constant breeze should subsidize the electric bills of those less fortunate who must rely on ineffective fans, etc.
Maybe, we should start a committee towards that goal.
Seriously, I look forward to your weather postings year round and thank you for the same.

A "local's club" air conditioned bar/restaurant that accepts dogs would be a great business idea.
