May I suggest the following as a first move: 1) Talk to Ejido members regarding what this is all about and ask them what their plans are for La Manzanilla(there are key members that should be included). Make sure they understand and accept the fact that something like this is a benefit to them and not a bunch of Gringos trying to control "their town". 2) Talk to La Huerta and find out what "their " plan are for La Manzanilla-do they have one and who is in charge. Ask questions like "Will it change with the new government coming in?" Is Public Works in charge of anything? Who is in charge of maintaining roads, permits, etc.- La Huerta or Ejido? 3) FInd out who will be in charge once "Titles" are given out- the Ejido or La Huerta. 4) IF and when any type of "Plan" is developed and accepted by the community, who will be in charge of implimenting the " rules". The young people who are growing up here(like you Camilia) need to understand what this will mean for their town-a good future. The only ones that benefit from uncontrolled growth are the Developers. They get away with not paying for the problems of the infrastructure that they create by this runaway, unplanned, vulgar and ugly destruction of a small community and they are the ones usually in control since they have the officials in their pockets. Yes, they do employ the Mexicans and keep them here instead of going across the border, but they don't help pay for improving the roads, schools or the water system. It's a long hard road, but as we look back on the good stuff that has happened in La Manzanilla we realize that things CAN improve. Remember when the smoke every morning choked us ,when there was no garbage collection, when there was no dream of a sewer!! One Day "PLANNING" . Thanks Camilia. |
