Sorry for the problems, it can be maddening! Get to know the person who comes out
(if they ever do). They won't usually take bribes but lemonade, cookies, make
them lunch, whatever it takes to get them to remember you!
As close to the Telmex switching station as you are (closer the better) you should
have great Internet. You have a bad connection between your modem and
the outside of the home and or a bad connection somewhere in between your
home and the switching office.
The first one you can check yourself. Make sure the modem is plugged into the
correct side of the splitter (one side is phone other is modem).
Unplug that splitter and make sure the contacts are clean, if you have a replacement
try using that.
Take the cover off the little white box that the phone line from the splitter
plugs into, look for ants or anything that may be making a short. Don't worry,
there is not enough electricity in there to hurt you. What you want is clean contacts
all the way from the computer to the wall thing. If that all looks good then
you need the Telmex person.
