New Construction on Beach

Speaking of condo projects on the beach (Julie mentioned this on the "Clean Beach" thread)....I noticed several weeks ago that a very large building, or buildings, being constructed on the beach, way past the old Fiesta Mexicana. It's being built in one of the Mexican camping grounds farther down the road and looks like it could be a condo complex or a hotel, and appears there are at least 9 separate living quarters so far. I believe someone is even already living in a basement unit. Anyone have any info on that project, and/or its sewer implications to the lagoon??? | ------------------------Re: New Construction on Beach

That is being built in the Federal Zone using a 15 year concession, they have the permit on a board in front of the construction. They are proceeding very slowly but proceeding none the less. | ------------------------Re: New Construction on Beach

thank you Daniel for your response, but that only opens it up to more questions: Is it a condo project or hotel? What happens to the building after the 15 year concession expires? Who exactly is building it...Mexican Nationals or Foreigners? And, will it be upscale or for locals to rent? PS...sorry I didn't notice any board in front of it when we passed by | ------------------------Re: New Construction on Beach

I think it is a hotel of sorts, not sure of what scale it will be, I would imagine it would be available to whoever wants to use it. The concession is automatically renewable unless the government has a better use for the land, then they would not renew the concession. I don't know what the nationality is of the builders. | ------------------------Re: New Construction on Beach

From what I know (not much) Concessions are basically a page of data then a bunch of pages on how you can violate that first page, i.e. the permits are supposed to be followed to the letter. Also you can not sell or buy Concessions they are probably going to do a short term lease at most. Better information may follow (like someone who knows what they are talking about).

I thought the condos that Julie was asking about was the property next to David Dagoli's house. Someone that was camping there said the owners tried to get permission for a 4 unit complex but was turned down and are now going about it with a different plan. Again, why not contact the office in La Huerta and see what might be happening with the property or the local office in town. | ------------------------
