This is too late to help David, but there is a product called "Sting-eze" that we always travel with. I got stung a couple of years ago in Puerto Escondido, two times right up near my groin (it was hiding in my towel). Rubbed the stuff on, felt lousy and spent most of the afternoon sleeping in the hammock, threw up after dinner, and felt fine the next day.
We buy it from www.campmore.com, although I've seen it other places. Maybe will help someone else.
