I like the signage and cans idea. Perhaps the signage would be on the cans instead of separate. I'd prefer them at the head of the entrances (not on the beach). Coordination with Gabriella, the ejido's environmental liaison to La Huerta would be needed. Also, placement of the cans would need to be negotiated with the adjacent business and residents.

The signage needs to be in Spanish. My Spanish is marginal, so I'm no help there. And the language should be persuasive rather than assertive or aggressive.

As for financing, maybe some local businesses would like to sponsor the cans, for some advertising space on a can. I noticed that this is done on cans in Barra de Navidad. Otherwise, there would need to be an organized fundraising effort.

Are there any LM artists who would be interested in creating the signage, preferable gratis? I think pictures of tortugas, birds, and fish would be nice to include. Maybe bubbled messages with appeals from them to help them live?

I'm not wild about the idea to preach in person. I don't think it is effective in general, and particularly in the Mexican culture. One of the great things about Mexicans is that they, generally speaking, are not preachy.

And last but by no means least, is the need for someone to step up and spearhead the implementation and long-term maintenance of the idea. It ain't me, babe.
