Sorry, you missed the point.

I give people rides to and from La Manz and decline any compensation. I find it "muddies" the issue. I provide rides (when possible) for other reasons.

The cost of gasoline to drive from PV to La Manz is about $20 US/Cdn. Someone offering to compensate me $10 US/Cdn is not an incentive.

Tim's original posting is about the perception of financial incentive from the viewpoint of the car owner versus the passenger.

He was also making the point (buying lunch) that the provision of shared of transportation was a "social" incentive as opposed to a "financial" incentive.
