The ambulance will be back in service soon and it will remain an independent emergency service for the people of La Manzanilla. It's not just for foreigners, it's for everyone! My function is to collect funds and equipment, since I am able to communicate with the Ex-Pats I have volunteered my time (as has Cruz) to get the things that are needed. Every peso that I've collected has gone to providing these things. We have the sanction of the La Huerta Municipio along with a contract for maintenance, fuel and insurance. This was a very time consuming and frustrating process but necessary in order to keep things on the up and up. We have been having a devil of a time trying to get the needed repairs done but I feel that we are close to bringing the ambulance back into service. I want you all to know that Cruz and I are doing all that we can to get things rolling again. Once we do, with the training and equipment that we've gotten thus far, the service will be reliable and ready.
