Daniel, I was never supporting the "sky is falling" and alarmist statements concerning the problem, but rather the fact that environmental issues, whether they be global (global warming) or local (destruction of a mangrove), are critical our quality of life, if not existence of it. Out there amongst all those trees is a forest. We are talking about separate issues here. Lack of public lands on the coast is certainly one. Destruction of those natural resources is another. Us foreigners have a limited ability to speak out or act against injustices in our host country. We may, however, work with the local people and power structures to change and control small things - lack of public parking on the beach, sanitation facilities, protection of turtle nests, etc. Actions always speak louder than words.
