María Castelazo has passed

María Castelazo passed away on May 6 in León, Guanajuato, surrounded by her six children and other extended family members. She was in her hometown to attend her grandson´s wedding. Maria was an illustrious member of our community and she will be remembered by all and missed by many. She loved La Manzanilla dearly and she certainly made a positive contribution to the community over the years. Maria encapsulated old Mexico and its traditions, and at the same time she could could be as American as apple pie if she chose to... A rare combination. Maria had a big heart and a hearty spirit. She never hesitated to speak her mind and to put action behind her words. Her family will be spreading her ashes in a ceremony here in La Manzanilla most likely on Sunday, June 9. All those who would like to attend the ceremony are urged to do so. When I receive the exact date and time, I will post it here. Blessings, María
