I don't think that you will find that some cards work and others don't. Our Canadian card works sometimes and sometimes not. I can say that I have never had a problem in Santiago.

Several years ago I opened an Intercam account and get all my cash there with personal cheques. To be liberated from Banamex is wonderful.

That option is not available for tourists, however. This must be very frustrating for those who must have a functioning card.
