I'd heard that Bibi's house had sold again-welcome to La Manz! We'll probably run into each other at some point in this very teeny town. The one thing Guadalajara Reporter did fairly well, I thought, was to cover the flooding in San Juan Cosala. I'm very sorry to hear that people are still homeless two years later.

I have to warn you that the upcoming Festival of
the Assumption in early August can be extremely
noisy, and usually includes setting off those horrible rockets whose explosions bounce off the hills, then echo all around town. We never know how bad it will be but always warn guests that they might want to skip that week. The actual feast day is the 15th but the festivities will go on for some time before that. The good part is that they set off some really fabulous fireworks on the final night - including a "tower" that's as good as some I've seen in San Miguel. If anyone has details on how many days the rockets will be set off, what time (how early??) etc., I'd sure appreciate a heads-up. It's terrifying for animals, including birds, which fly around in circles trying to get away from the noise. Our cats will be neurotic for weeks afterward.
