As a guest in La Manzanilla this week, I am impressed by the unusual level of mixing between the Mexican community and the Gringos. I see many many healthy interactions between people who live side by side, truly trusting and sharing their lives. What you all have here is a fragile balance that will need to be increasingly nurtured as more and more money and devolopement threaten to pull these two groups apart. Look at the big picture. Yes stealing is wrong, but why is it happening here? Aren't we the lucky ones that we already have more than we need? Would you want to trade places with a Mexican teenager? Who was here first anyway? It seems to me the emphasis needs to be on pulling together to build a safe and productive place for everybody. Wouldn't it be more effective to shift the focus from "let's punish" to "let's educate and create oppurtunities"???
