on the first day of winter quarter at The University of Georgia a drop dead gorgeous coed walked into class and took her seat on the front row. I had seen her at a fraternity party with a friend the previous weekend and briefly spoke to her that day.
Less than a month later we eloped and were standing in a preachers living room, his children sitting on the staircase and his wife standing by his side in a wedding ceremony that was like a scene from a movie.
we parented and raised three of the best kids ever on our ranch in Florida as I enjoyed my dream job as an airline pilot living the life that one can only describe as ideal.
in January 1991 Easter Airlines ceased operations and I was without a job and rather handsome paycheck that we had become so accustomed to. we auctioned off the ranch that we loved, rounded up all the money we had left and set out on a journey in a used Winnebago motorhome with our only destination being the Pacific coast of Mexico.
our first stop was the campground at Boca de Iguanas where we built our little home on the hill overlooking the most beautiful beach we had ever been ever since. I was 48 years old.
on February 25th, just about a month away, we will celebrate 50 years of the most wonderful marriage that one could imagine.
Cissie is my best friend, the kindest most giving person I have ever met as many of you in La Manzanilla can attest. she is the person I most respect in this world. I adore her and love her more with each passing day. the fact that she put up with my sorry ass for 50 years speaks volumes.
