Let me add something to my post.

Actually there is a crisis in Boca and in La Manzanilla. I was just
sitting here thinking of the changes over the past 10 years or so and
realizing how the beach between La Manzanilla and Boca has been closed off
to the general public over the years. Here in La Manzanilla just past where
the Lagoon drains out there used to be a big area where anyone could park,
it is now occupied by 10 titled lots and is completely closed off to
the public. Down in Boca there used to be a lot just this side of the
old hotel where people could access the beach, that has been closed off.
Now the access at the end of the road is being challenged after being
closed for some time.

Some years ago there were 2 or 3 Malicon's constructed to give access
to the beach but there is only one or two places to park near each one and
there is no facilities at all, so the relief they give to the public is limited.
If I get on Google earth and look at the beach between La Manzanilla and
Boca I can see that the only parts of this 4 km stretch of beach which are
really open to the public for free is La Manzanilla and Boca.
There is a huge amount of beach in between but no way for people to use it
unless they pay someone for camping facilities. Using Google Earth if I
were to look at the entire Costa Alegre I would see that most of it is
ecologically protected because no one is using it, either because it
is not people friendly or because it has been privatized and access
to the public prevented.

Where are the state beaches in this area? There are none, Tenacatita was
basically it and now that is not available. There used to be many many buses
and many many people going to Tenacatita, where are they going now? Here to
La Manzanilla and to Boca. There are no other free family friendly beaches
in the area. Being one of the last free beaches I don't think it takes much
thinking to see how much pressure is going to be put on our area in the near
future. Doesn't it seem odd that the state has no plans to build a place for
people to use the beach? There are state beaches all over the place where
I come from in the US, here there are basically zero.

What Larry is saying with his list of questions is that nature has to be
considered in a solution, of course he is right but he is ignoring how little space
there is for people to use and is not seeing the frustration that is building
in people as more and more resources are closed. This is short sighted and will
not end well. This is one big reason we should be very supportive of those
who want to reclaim Tenacatita.
