Update on foreign-plated cars in Mexico

I've updated my blog with more info and some corrections/clarifications on keeping our cars in Mexico.

Basically, the customs report from the meeting in Puerto Vallarta says you can have a vehicle here on a 180-day tourist visa or it will have to be imported.

Importation must happen at the border.

Right now it looks like you can't import the vehicle you already have here associated with your FM3 visa --- take it out to where you brought it in, remove the current sticker, import, bring it back.

It doesn't say how much time we have to import it or get it out from when we receive our new visa .

There's more to it than this --- some details are on my blog. And we're still investigating because we're just about to receive our new visas and have to make a decision about what to do with our truck.

If anyone is further along than we are and have more (factual) information, please share.

Thanks!
