I wrote a little piece on the message board connected to this discussion - "restorative justice" - I agree compassion and some structure for changing some of Christo's behavior is necessary, and some strong committment. But meeting Christo's needs is a big responsibility, and difficult. It requires more than time and money. Teamwork with social services comes to mind, especially for learning to communicate.

Whatever someone may seem to deserve, once we get tired of the problems they create for us, jail doesn't work. Most of it is only warehousing, and we take the consequences once the person is released. Jail is necessary for psychopaths, where all bets are off, and it doesn't matter what works.
